Mary Grimmer – Director & Owner
Mary is dedicated, driven and passionate about early childhood education. Her love for children is evident not only in the care she provides for her own children, but in the way she organizes and manages LTSH. She is constantly in motion, always finding ways to improve the work and child care environment she has created. Her warm and caring ways allow staff, children and parents to feel the love of the LTSH family. Mary brings a strong administrative and business background to LTSH. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration & Finance, with a minor in Economics. From 1995 through 2002, Mary ran a family day care at her home in Reading. In 2002, she fulfilled a personal dream and opened Little Treasures Schoolhouse. She is currently working towards a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education. Mary never stops reaching for her next goal and encourages those around her to keep growing and pursuing their best self.
Miss Beth – Assistant Director & Lead Teacher
Beth is very much at the heart and soul of Little Treasures! She is dependable and is relied upon by everyone in the building. She is always the first one at LTSH early in the morning and makes sure the doors are open come rain, snow or sunshine. Beth has worked with Mary Grimmer since 1997 in her family day care. Beth has a passion for children and has many imaginative and fun curriculum ideas for the children. She loves to plant the creative seeds with the teachers around her and watch her ideas grow. Beth is an amazing and inspiring woman. The staff, children, and families can’t help but love Miss Beth! Her typical day includes giving tours, organizing fundraising activities, managing the daily routine of the school, as well as being the Lead Teacher in the full day preschool classroom.
Miss Debby – TAS Director & Music Director
Debby founded the “Treasures After School” Program in 2004. Her enthusiasm makes it the success it is today. Debby is both our After School Program Administrator as well as our Music Teacher for the whole school. She also creates the newsletters, summer programs and school vacation programs. Debby has all of the components desirable for these positions. She is fun-loving, charismatic, vibrant and youthful! Each day she consistently greets her after school students with a kind comment or compliment. Her music classes are much more than just singing songs or playing instruments. Music classes with Miss Debby are fully engaging and bursting with energy. Miss Debby initiated our Winter and Spring Shows. Our shows have become events that the children, staff, and parents look so forward to each year.
Miss Cheryl – Pre-Kindergarten Teacher
Cheryl has been with us at LTSH since March of 2003. Miss Cheryl is our Kindergarten Transition Teacher. Cheryl takes a very dynamic approach to the Kindergarten curriculum by following the children’s interests and involving them in fun, hands-on activities, while teaching them essential reading, math and science skills. Cheryl loves to use science, music and art to encourage students to think outside of the box! Cheryl nurtures the children’s independence and problem solving skills and as a result they flourish under her guidance. Children in Cheryl’s classroom are challenged academically and are fully prepared to transition to Kindergarten.
Miss Penny – Half Day Preschool Teacher, TAS bus driver & After School group leader
Penny has been with Little Treasures since 2004. Penny teaches in our half day Preschool Program. She is also an after school Group Leader and our TAS bus driver. She wears many hats at Little Treasures! As a group leader in the After School program she is diligent about the children completing their homework. However, she can also be counted on to be involved with the after school children in a rousing board game or fun craft activity. She brings excellent organizational skills to her Half Day Preschool class, along with great creativity and a wonderful sense of humor. Arts and crafts are a favorite in her classroom. She really knows how to bring out the best in her children while giving them the independence which leads to self confidence and self reliance. When the children graduate from Miss Penny’s class they are well prepared for Kindergarten.
Miss Christen – Full Day Program PreKindergarten Teacher
Christen joined our PreK program in 2009. She brings with her 21 years of experience as a teacher. The PreK team of Miss Jackie and Miss Christen fully prepare the children for the important transition into Kindergarten. The children are taught to be independent and confident and they can approach Kindergarten with a solid foundation. Christen is full of energy and enthusiasm and she has so much fun in her class. Her favorite part of being a teacher is the day to day interactions with the children. She is a compassionate teacher who values opportunities to listen to and laugh with the children. Christen’s “kid chats” are always a favorite for parents and staff to read. Christen has a wonderful positive outlook that is contagious to those around her and the children thrive in the upbeat PreK environment.
Miss Dawn S. – Full Day Program PreKindergarten Teacher
